Our best guess is a marketer invented the first business card in the same century that the printing press was invented. Even in the 1400's one card was not enough.Fifteenth Century
Restaurants would write their menu on the back, businesses would draw a map to their store, marketers got others to pay for them with advertisements. Funny, in the 1600's paper business cards were more useful than today.Sixteenth Century
The invention of the magazine, in color, meant that marketers found a new location to advertise besides a trade card. However, businesses began decorating the small piece of paper with color and pictures rather than content. Sounds practical.
A display with text emerged to replace the phone. It replaced calculators, pda's, beepers, translators, calendars, watches, and even your wallet. Somehow, the most obvious item the smartphone did not replace is a business card.1992
Finally a solution for a smartphone arose. Until someone asked, "Can you Bump me?" Google bought the technology, and the hundreds of thousands of users were left in the rain on a cold day in front of a printing press - like it was 1599.2011-2014
Andrew Amann came up with the idea to replace paper business cards, without needing the other person to download anything. Pavel Kirillov said he didn't really want to sleep in the next three years, so he joined and became the co-founder of the un-funded venture.February 2014
In a bar in Cambridge Ma, called the Saloon, the founders released their best work. Looking back, the app should have labeled the letter before alpha. But beginnings are always memorable.October 2014
Paul McNeal signed on with Inigo to run the social platform considering the two founders had no idea how to use twitter. Paul managed to put Inigo on the map by getting us radio spots, video blog interviews, presentations, and articles in huge publications.September 2015
We did a ton of research and determined that this iPhone thing was here to stay and people really liked using it for more than a phone. So we made an app and called it by the same name. We know. Two kids, two different looks, 10 months apart...same name.October 2015
Oh this is exciting, its finally here! Part three of our vision to replace paper business cards! We hope you enjoy sharing cards with your team and as always are here to answer questions.April 2016
Inigo started from an idea that networking was complicated with a smartphone. No one seemed to have the same application, and the apps on the market in 2014 were clunky or designed poorly. The idea became simple, to design an app that could organize your social and contact information into a card that could be given to anyone as quickly as possible. To this day, that is still our passion but we realized that getting the contact information is just as important as remembering it.
From a lonely Android app our team has grown to develop an entire platform of collecting and managing contacts at the point of meeting your acquaintance. The customers we have met along the way, and the people that have communicated to us about their life improvements because of Inigo is what drives us every day to release that perfect feature.
We have no investors, no boss, and a team of individuals passionate about growing this product. I could not be more thankful and proud of the team, and the product. We hope you enjoy every corner of the applications and expect to hear feedback about your experience. Thank you for using Inigo.
